Facebook Live - December 11, 2018 - Faux Tile

Here is the latest Facebook Live that was done last night, December 11, 2018.  The Blast from the Past was going all the way back to May, 2012.  It has been a fun journey and I am always amazed at how far I have come in eight years both as a stamper and paper craft creator.or

Here is what the tag said:  Create an unique background that will add dimension to any card. Last night I used the Simply Scoring Tool (122334) which is sold by Stampin' Up!  You can also use a Ruler to create a grid on your cardstock. I was looking for an easy way so I used the Simply Scoring Tool.

Here is the completed card, I just love how it turned out!

Create diagonal lines or up and down lines, being sure to evenly space your lines to create a grid. Please sit back and enjoy my Facebook Live Video, remember to share it.  I also will be uploading it to You Tube and you can find that by just doing a search for my name, Cindy Ehlers.

Here are the ingredients for the card:

Stamps:  Beautiful Promenade
Ink:  Berry Burst, Old Olive, Early Espresso, Crumb Cake
Paper:  Berry Burst Base, Whisper White Layer
Accessories:  Epoxy Droplets, Dimensionals

December Technique - Retiform

The Retiform Stamping Technique has been around a while and I can't believe that I had never tried it! By using Sticky Notes or pieces of Cardstock, we masked off sections of a blank piece of cardstock. Then used a sponge or sponge dauber to sponge first a lighter shade of ink and then a darker shade around the edges. Stamp the images that you would like in the squares. Keep masking, sponging and stamping until you have covered the card piece.

It might sound complicated, but it is not!  Let me show you what I mean!!

Card #1 - Frosty
Stamp Sets:  First Frost
Ink:  Gray Granite, Blackberry Bliss, Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana
Paper:  Coastal Cabana Base, Frost Floral Layer, Whisper White
Accessories:  Frosted Bouquet Framelits, Dimensionals, Blackberry Bliss Dark Blend, Rhinestones
HINT:  You can have any color Rhinestone that you would like by coloring them first with the Stampin' Up! Blends.

Card #2 - Love Never Melts
Stamp Sets:  Spirited Snowmen (Retires on January 2nd)
Ink:  Blueberry Bushel, Balmy Blue
Paper:  Balmy Blue Base, Blueberry Bushel Layer, Whisper White
Accessories:  Epoxy Droplets, Light Night of Navy Blends, Silver Ribbon
HINT:  I colored the Epoxy Droplets with the Light Night of Navy Blend, it turned out great!!

Card #3 - Fancy Fold - Corner Fold

Stamp Sets:  Wishing You Well
Ink:  Night of Navy, Pear Pizzazz
Paper:  Soft Seafoam Base, First Frost Designer Series Paper (3) 3 3/4 x 3 3/4, Whisper White & Night of Navy

November Technique - Shimmer Paint

Stampin' Up! gives us some wonderful products for adding bling and zing to our handmade cards and paper crafting projects!  Shimmer Paint will add that subtle yet effective glimmer to a piece.

We explored two ways to do just that when we met for our monthly technique class in November.  Let me show you what I mean!

Card #1 -Winter Woods

Many times when I look out my stamping window, which just happens to face the family woods, I see a picture just like this. The sun is almost set, and the sky is showing beautiful hues of purples in the navy night.

Stamp Sets:  Winter Woods, Timeless Tidings
Ink:  Rich Razzelberry, Night of Navy, Memento Black
Paper:  Night of Navy Base, Gray Granite Layer, Rich Razzelberry 3x5 layer, Whisper White, Champagne Glitter Paper 1x5 strip.
Accessories:  Frost White Shimmer Paint (3 drops to 2 oz. Rubbing Alcohol)

HINT:  Color was sponged onto Whisper White paper before adding the shimmer paint. Hold your spritzer back about 10 inches to spritz the Shimmer Paint/Alcohol mixture onto your paper.

Card #2 - Snowflake Shimmer
Stamp Sets:  Snow is Glistening
Ink:  Balmy Blue, Highland Hunter, Memento Black
Paper:  Balmy Blue Base, Highland Hunter Layer, Whisper White scraps, Silver scraps, White Velvet Snowflakes 4x4 paper
Accessories:  Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint, Sponging, Dimensionals, Softly Falling Embossing Folder, Stamparatus.

HINT:  Emboss the Highland Hunter Layer using the Softly Falling Embossing Folder and Big Shot, then sponge Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint over the entire layer for some beautiful "shimmer".

Card #3 - Dashing Deer Inside Step Card (Fancy Fold)
This card turned out so beautiful and I love the how easy it was, with just a few score lines we created this  beautiful Inside Step Card.

Stamp Sets:  Dashing Deer
Ink:  Cherry Cobbler, Gray Granite
Paper:  Cherry Cobbler Base, Mossy Meadow layer, Whisper White, Festive Farmhouse DSP
Accessories:  Dimensionals, 2" Circle Punch, Starburst Circle Punch

HINT:  Score inside Whisper White piece at 5 1/2" and then 1" increments on each side = 3 score lines on each side for a total of 6 scores. At 2 1/2", 3 1/2", 4 1/2", 5 1/2", 6 1/2", 7 1/2", and 8 1/2".

Here is the inside of the card, isn't it neat?!!
There you have it, I think that the cards turned out great, tell me what you think!!

Blast from the Past! - Suspension Technique

It was time for another Blast from the Past!!  The Suspension Technique Tag told me that by using 2 different sized punches to create a suspended look for a special message or image. After decorating your card, tape a piece of dental floss between your 2 circles. It has been so much fun to bring these techniques up to date, we had to make do with punches but this time I am going to use the Layering Circle Framelits to achieve the Suspended Look.

Here is a picture of the finished card:

Enjoy my Facebook Live and remember - Share!!!

Suspension Card Technique
