May Technique - Double Background Stamping

The Double Background Stamping is very popular right now.  By stamping a large background stamp first on your cardstock and then stamp a smaller background stamp in a different, you can achieve a unique look to your cards.  This fun and easy technique is one that you will be using on a regular basis.

Let me show you what I mean:

Here is our first card.  As you can see this card is very simple, but it really stands out and is also very pretty.  I loved the Wink of Stella in Gold and Clear to accent the flower.

Card 1 –  I’m Here for You
Stamp Sets: You’ve Got This
Ink:  Black, Blushing Bride, Blackberry Bliss
Paper:  Sahara Sand Base, Blackberry Layer, Whisper White 3 ¾ x 5
Accessories: Blushing Bride Sequins, Wink of Stella (Gold & Clear)

Here is the second card that we made at class.  It reminds me of the flowers that you see along a building.

Card 2 – May the Very Best
Stamp Sets:  Wild About Flowers, Woodgrain
Ink:  Old Olive, Tip Top Taupe, Tangelo Twist
Paper:  Old Olive Base, Tangelo Twist Layer, Whisper White 3 ¾ x 5 & 1 x 2 ¾, Vellum scraps
Accessories:  Triple Banner Punch, Twine, Dimensions, Glue Stick

Here is the Fancy Fold Card, it is called a Collar Fold and can also be used like a shirt with a collar, just turn the card on it's side.  But for this card, we wanted the "Happy Birthday to You" to peek out of the card.  Another fun card and a fold that I will definitely use again!

Fancy Project – Collar Fold – Flower Corsage
Stamp Sets: Flower Shop, Petite Pairs, Circle of Spring
Ink:  Black, Rose Red or Lost Lagoon
Paper:  Rose Red Base, Mossy Meadow Layer or Lost Lagoon Layer, Whisper White 3 ¾ x 5, DSP 3 ¾ x 5
Accessories: Glue Dots, Pansy Punch, Petite Petal Punch, Pearl Jewels or Candy Dots

Here is the diagram that shows how you cut the Designer Series Paper to create the fold.

Splitcoast Stampers Creative Crew - May Cards

About a month ago, I received an email from the Creative Crew at Splitcoast Stampers.  I was invited to participate in the Creative Crew for the months of May, June and July.  At first I was a little scared but I really got into the creative process and I was very happy with how my original cards turned out.  I can now share the cards with you along with a post link to all of the Creative Crew cards for May.
Creative Crew - May Cards  (Just click on this link)

The first card I made for the Catalog Focus Challenge.  Choose any illustration from the 2015-2016 Share the Fun catalog to recreate using different stamps than the ones featured in the catalog.  I choose the design from Page 100 of the 2015-2016 SU Catalog.  The only thing that I used was the layout for my card, changing everything!!

Stamps:  Age Awareness
Cardstock:  Cajun Craze Background, Botanical Blooms DSP, Whisper White
Ink:  Cajun Craze
Accessories:  Washi Tape, Dimensions
Here is the next card, Holiday Focus.  This was a hard one!!  I was given different holidays to come up with a card from.  You would think no problem, until you see the holiday choices.  I choose Hug Your Cat Day; but I could have chosen Scurvy Awareness Day, Star Wars Day, Cinco de Mayo, National Lost Sock Memorial Day, Clean up Your Room Day (a favorite I bet of all Mom's), Frog Jumping Day, Lucky Penny Day and My Bucket's Got a Hole in it Day!

Stamp Set:  Giggle Greetings
Cardstock:  Pool Party Base, Bohemian DSP, Bermuda Bay, Whisper White
Ink:  Black; Soft Suede Cajun Craze Markers
Accessories:  Bohemian Washi Tape, Dimensions

The next card challenge was DSP/Color Focus.  Choose a tutorial from the Tutorials section of SCS to feature your favorite color combo.  I choose the Foxy Oxi tutorial, which I also used for our monthly technique class. I sponge color onto the Whisper White piece, sprinkled some Oxi Clean to this piece of cardstock and then lightly misted it with water.  After I let it dry, I then stamped the flower in Chocolate Chip.

Stamp Set:  Butterfly Basics and Teeny Tiny Wishes
Cardstock:  Pacific Point Base, Old Olive Base, Rich Razzelberry, Whisper White
Ink:  Chocolate Chip, Island Indigo, Old Olive
Accessories:  White Stitched Satin Ribbon

The last challenge was Scrapbook and More Focus.  We were given a layout and advised we could use this layout for any size mini book, scrapbook page, journal cover or card sketch.  I choose card sketch and came up with this "You're in My Thoughts" card.

Stamp set:  Flower Shop, Watercolor Wash
Cardstock:  Blackberry Bliss Base, Shimmery White Layer, Soft Sky, Mambo Melon, Smokey Slate
Ink:  Soft Sky, Blackberry Bliss, Black
Accessories:  Gold Clip, Dimensions, Pansy Punch

I haven't heard yet what the June Challenges will be, but am looking forward to it.  Thanks for stopping by and I hope that you enjoyed my cards.

April Kit Class Cards

Last night was our April Kit Class, I create 5 different cards for the ladies, cut and provide all of the supplies needed to make three of each of the 5 cards.  When they are finished, they have 15 cards and it only costs them $15 or the class is FREE with a $25 order.

We had a smaller than usual turnout last night but that didn't stop us from having a wonderful time.  We stamped, laughed and enjoyed ourselves so much!  If you would like to join us and live in the area, contact me and get on the list.  We have a great time, the cards are pretty, simple and nice.

Here are the cards:
The Birthday Wishes card used the Butterfly Basics stamp set (#138816).  The base was Crumb Cake with a Mossy Meadow layer.  We stamped the fern leaf three times but only inked it once to create this card.  The twine accent really finished the card.

The Hello Friend card uses the soon to be retired Six Sided Sampler (#130956) and also the stamp set Gorgeous Grunge (#130517).  The base is Lost Lagoon with a Whisper White Layer.  The Hexagon Punch was used and the Bold Butterfly Thinlet.  I am going to be sorry to see the Lost Lagoon cardstock and ink retire as well as the Hexagon Punch and Six Sided Sampler stamp set.
The Congrats card was a piece of cake to make, ever wonder what to do with Washi Tape?  Wonder no more, this is the perfect way to add a little something different to your cards.  The stamp set is Party Pants.  Cardstock is Tangelo Twist with a Whisper White layer, just run the white through your Big Shot using the Stylish Stripes Embossing Folder.  Just follow the lines from the embossing folder to get perfect alignment of your Washi Tape.  The Tangelo Twist cardstock and Stylish Stripes Embossing Folder will be retiring on May 31.

The Grad Card I just love how it turned out!!  Using the B.Y.O.P. stamp set on a Black Base with Tip Top Taupe Layer.  The Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White and Pacific Point stripes are punched with the Banner Triple Punch, embossed with the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder then punched on one end with the small star punch and attached to the card using dimensions.
Ice Cream Card looks good enough to eat!!  What little girl wouldn't love to receive this card for their special day?!  The card base is Soft Suede with a Blushing Bride Layer and the ice cream cone and sentiment is stamped on Whisper White cardstock.  The Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla and Blushing Bride ice cream are attached to the card with the Very Vanilla and Blushing Bride being attached with dimensions.

April Paper Pumpkin

I recently just subscribed to Stampin' Up! Paper Pumpkin and received my first kit in the mail this past Friday.  It arrived in my mailbox, and it was just Christmas!!  I didn't have time to dig into it but I did open the box!!  This weekend, our plans didn't quite go as plan and so I spent the rainy afternoon in my stamping studio making the April Paper Pumpkin kit.

Here is the cute Spring Wreath that was the whole idea of the kit.  Then my imagination started and I came up with the following cards with all of the extra supplies that they send in the kit.  The April kit also included a free stamp set, this was a fun project!!
We all need birthday cards, the ribbon is cotton and was perfect to stamp on using Memento Ink.
The extra leaves (and there are alot) worked perfect for adding a cute leaf bottom border.
All I had to add was the card base in Maurina Mist, the Designer Paper and stamp the flower and sentiment which came with the kit.
Another cute card, only this time I stamped off and created a bouquet of flowers.  Love it!
This card would work great for just about any occasion.
I love this card, it was so easy!  I love the water color look which seems to be all the trend right now.  I also have just the person that I am going to send this to.
The water color look continues, only this time, I made the flowers look like lilacs.  I like the soft colors and love how it turned out.

So what do you think?  Leave me a message, I love to hear from you!
