June Technique - Tie Dye

The Tie Dye Technique is very popular right now; it is also very easy to do.  With this technique you can create the look of Tie Dye by applying ink to a coffee filter.  The ink takes no time at all to dry, you then adhere the dyed coffee filter to a piece of white cardstock that you plan to use on your card.

Just like the days when you use to take a white shirt and tie it and then dye it, this is the same thing!  Take a coffee filter and gently smooth it up, now crumple it up!!  That is correct, you want some crinkles in your filter.  Then fold your filter accordion style.  Take a half of a baby wipe and wrap it around a "G", this will be your stamp.  You will want a block for each color ink that you use. Ink up the baby wipe stamp and stamp the block on the filter, first on one side and then on the other side.

Once you are done, gently unfold the coffee filter and let it dry; this will take very time at all.  You will want to adhere the filter to a piece of white cardstock so that you can attach it to your card base.

Let's look at the cards that the ladies made at class:
Card #1 - Tie Dye Sunshine
This card just says sunshine and summer to me.  I love the Tie Dye colors of Dapper Denim, Bermuda Bay and Lemon Lime Twist. Fun Tip for this card, after stamping the sunglasses using black ink, we used the Fine Tip Glue Pen to apply a thin layer to the glass part to make the glass of the sunglasses.

Stamp Set:  Pocketful of Sunshine
Ink:  Dapper Denim, Bermuda Bay, Lemon Lime Twist and Black
Paper:  Lemon Lime Twist Base, Black Layer, Whisper White and Woodland Textures Designer Series Paper for the Sunglasses
Accessories:  Pocket Framelits, Dimensions, Rhinestone Gems, Fine Tip Glue

Card #2 - Oh So Eclectic Tie Dye
We used the Sahara Sand and Flirty Flamingo inks for the Tie Dye of this card and then stamped the flower stamp from Oh So Eclectic over the top of this for a little dimension.

Stamp Sets:  Oh So Eclectic, Lovely Inside & Out (Inside)
Ink:  Early Espresso, Sahara Sand, Flirty Flamingo
Paper:  Crumb Cake Base, Early Espresso Layer, Whisper White and Flirty Flamingo
Accessories:  Eclectic Layers Thinlits, Dimensions, Glitter Enamel Dots

Card #3 - Thinking of You - Gate Fold Card
This lovely card is made using coordinating Designer Series Paper that goes with the Colorful Seasons stamp set.

Stamp Set:  Colorful Seasons
Ink:  Memento Black
Paper:  Black Base, Whisper White Inside, Color Theory Designer Series Paper for the Front
