November Technique - Reflections

Reflective Stamping Technique

Month:           November, 2013

Today's challenge is an old one for most of you but it's new to me....in fact, I haven't done this before

1. Gather supplies....card stock, inks, stamps, and a piece of acetate (I used a piece of acetate from some old transparencies)

2. Stamp your image on the card stock

3. Ink up your stamp again and this time stamp it on the piece of acetate

4. Flip your piece of acetate over so your stamped image is facing down. Line it up with your first image to create your reflection. Place acetate on card stock.

5. Rub over your acetate. It will transfer the image from the acetate to your card stock.

6. If you use an image stamp you can finish it by doodling or drawing a line between your stamped image and the reflection to ground it. (Card 1)

7. If you use this technique for word stamps, you can use a lighter color or a different color altogether for the reflection or not. You can add the ground line or not for word stamps...what ever strikes your fancy!!!

Fancy Fold – Christmas Gift Card
Using Envelope Punch

Stamp Sets: Tags for You, Word Play, Ornament Keepsakes
Ink:  Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler
Paper:  Old Olive 5 ½ x 6 ½
Whisper White 4 x 5 ¼
Season of Style DS 5 ½ x 2 ¼
Whisper White Tag 2 ½ x 3 ¾

Accessories:  Glimmer Brads, Dimension, Curly Label Punch, Sticky Strip Tape, Washi Tape

Start out with a piece of c/s measuring 5 ½ x 6 ½, score at 2 ¼ on the 6 ½” side. Place your c/s with the shorter scored end on the 5 ½ side horizontally against the top of the envelope punch board. Bring the very edge/corner of you c/s so that the edge is even to the hole peeking through the punch part of your board. Press down on the punch and reposition your cardstock along the top of your punch board a 2nd time on the same edge but slide the corner that you just cut up to the 3” line on the ruler of your envelope punch board.

One your c/s has been punched, align the side with the tab on your paper cutter so that you can cut off one tab.  Make sure you line up the small “v” in the center right where the blade will cut on the very edge of the cutting track. Using the opposite side of the punch, round the 2 top corners on the opposite side of your c/s.

The layering is the easiest if you start out with a dsp piece measuring 5 ½ x 2 ¼. Repeat the steps above as you did with the c/s piece. Once you have the dsp cut with one tab, use your paper cutter to cut off ½ on both short sides and also cut off ¼ on the bottom side. The dsp should fit exactly to your card front.

Whisper White c/s was added for the inside of the card measuring 4 x 5 ¼, rounded the two top corners with the punch, stamped the images and then glued the two front sides to the card back using Sticky Strip to create the pocket for the gift card.

For the gift card holder, cut a piece of Whisper White c/s measuring 2 ½ x 3 ¾ and rounded the two top corners.  The pull at the top of the c/s piece was cut with the Petite Curly Label punch, folded in half and glued in place.  I plan to use a glue dot to attach this gift card piece to my gift card.

I hoped you enjoyed Novembers Technique - Reflections!

As always take care,
