December Technique - Magic Snowflake

Class is over and its time to share with you the December Technique; one problem though in my zest to get my Christmas Cards out, I sent out all of my samples but one!  Can you believe it?!  Well know me as well as I do, Yep I can believe it!

But here is the one card that I can share with you, it is the #2 card.

Technique – Magic Snowflake

Month: December, 2013

Very similar to the Polished Stone Technique but this time we will not be using metallic re-inkers. The reason being is that metallic ink will get embedded into the image and will not give us a good look.  It’s best to stay with coordinating colors rather than contrasting colors.  Because it’s all about snowflakes, both of our cards will show case, what else but snowflakes!!

Taking a piece of Glossy Cardstock, stamp your image using White Craft Ink or Versamark ink. Sprinkle with White Embossing Powder and heat set with Heat Tool.

Put some rubbing alcohol onto the cotton ball (saturate it about half-way).  While holding the wet cotton ball face up, carefully squeeze out 2 drops of your first color of re-inker onto the cotton ball, then 2 drops of your second color.

Start dabbing the wet cotton ball all over the entire stamped piece, until the square is completely covered with color.  The stamped image will disappear under the ink. (Please careful and stay on the blotter paper, we don’t want ink on the tables)

Now here is the magic part!  Use your heat gun again, point it right at the center of the snowflake and watch as the snowflake emerges out of the murky, inky mess!  Continue slowing moving the heat gun around heating completely until the ink evaporates and the snowflake looks white and pretty again!!

Fancy Fold Details – Did you know that the new Card Framelits can make the card larger than the 6” Framelits normally does? Here is how!
When cutting out your 8 ½ x 5 3/8 card base, make sure that the extra card stock on the opposite end is above the cutting area.  When you run it through it actually creates a scored area so you can fold it back in the exact spot that you need it.

And finally below is the flameless votive candles that I decorated using vellum cardstock that I stamped with Pool Party ink and then embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing powder.  I gave one away at each of my classes, the third votive candle I gave to the lady that owns the hall where we have classes and the large one is for ME!!

Merry Christmas to all my friends and stamping friends.
