June 2015 Stamping Technique Class - Decorative Masks

What a fun technique!!  The Stampin' Up! Decorative Masks are one of those stamping tools that are easily overlooked when you are looking through the Stampin' Up! catalog.  Located on Page 157, you can choose from Happy Patterns, Hearts & Stars or Dots & Stripes.  The best part there are two masks in a package and they only cost $3.00 for each set!!  I must admit that I had never tried them but now that I have, I just LOVE them!!

Dots & Stripes Decorative Masks by Stampin' Up!   Hearts & Stars Decorative Masks by Stampin' Up! Decorative Masks, page 157, $3.00 ea.

Lets get started!!

Create backgrounds using Sponge Daubers or Stampin' Up! Spritzers for cards that will make you say, "How Easy" and "So Pretty!"  Not to mention, "Why didn't I think of that?!!"

For our Card 1, we used Sponge Daubers and the Hearts Mask or the Stripes Mask.

Card 1 – Friendly Wishes
Stamp Sets:  Friendly Wishes
Ink: Mint Macaron, Tip Top Taupe
Paper:  Chocolate Chip Base 5 ½ x 8 ½, Min Macaron Layer 4 x 5 ¼, Tip Top Taupe 3 x 4 ½, Whisper (2) 3 ¾ x 5
Accessories:  SU Masks, Dimensions, Sponge Daubers, Sequins, Min Macaron Dotted Lace Ribbon, Banner Framlits, painters Tape, Tape for Ribbon

Use Sponge Daubers to “dab” color onto the cardstock through the mask that has been taped to your cardstock using painters tape.

For the Second Card, The Stampin' Up! Spritzer was used to create these cute Dots for our background!

Card 2 – Sprinkles of Life
Stamp Sets:  Sprinkles of Life
Ink:  Soft Sky, Soft Suede, Cucumber Crush
Paper:  Soft Sky Base 5 ½ x 8 ½, Cucumber Crush 3 ½ x 3 ½, Dijon Delight Layer 4 x 5 ¼, Very Vanilla 3 ¾ x 5 7 3 ¼ x 3 ¼
Accessories: Circle Framelits, Dimensions, Spritzer, Melon Mambo Scrap

Use a Spritzer to spritz color onto the cardstock through the mask.  In mixing the spritzer, you can use water or rubbing alcohol, I used rubbing alcohol because of the fast drying factor.  I used about 10 drops of re-inker.
