August Technique - Plastic Wrap & Reinkers

Another fun technique was shared and learnt at our August Technique Classes.  Plastic Wrap & Reinkers, what fun!!  I always smile when I see the reaction of the ladies when I announce that I went to the kitchen to get the supplies needed to make our technique class.

The Plastic Wrap and Reinkers create a "tie-dye" background on our Whisper White cardstock.  By starting with a plastic lid (we used cottage cheese lids) and adding a couple drops of reinker (we kept each color separate by using a separate lid for each color); taking our plastic wrap and scrunching it together and dabbing it in the ink.  By dabbing the plastic wrap all over the plastic lid, distributed the ink so that we didn't have blobs of ink in only one place.  You want to have even color distribution, it just makes for a nicer card.

Let's get started!!

Card #1 - Happy Birthday to a Classic!  (I am thinking I will be using this card for my husband's birthday in September, he is definitely a classic!  LOL!)

Stamp Sets:  Country Living, Birthday Blossoms
Ink:  Memento Black; Reinkers--Soft Sky, Pink Pirouette, Daffodil Delight (for sky), Mink Macaron (for grass); Markers--Dapper Denim, Marina Mist, Mint Macaron, Grey, Black, Hello Honey
Paper:  Marina Mist Base, Dapper Denim Layer & 4 x 2 3/4 piece for layer of truck piece, Whisper White 3 3/4 x 5 & 3 3/4 x 2 1/2 (for truck)
Accessories:  Dimensions, Denim Ribbon, Wink of Stella

Helpful Hints:  I found that using lighter colors is best so that you do not have the "muddy" look and by dabbing the ink on the plastic lid also kept blotches from happening.

Card #2 - Puppy Friends

Stamp Set:  Bella & Friends (I just love this stamp set!!)
Ink:  Black; Reinkers--Pear Pizzazz & Garden Green; Markers--Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Tempting Turquoise
Paper:  Pear Pizzazz Base, Whisper White Layer & 3x3 piece for puppy, Garden Green layer 3 1/8 x 3 1/8
Accessories:  Dimensions, Wink of Stella-Gold, Green Sequins

Card #3 - Festive Fun Fold - Happy Birthday!

Stamp Set: Better Together, Timeless Textures
Ink:  Black, Melon Mambo
Paper:  Melon Mambo Main Base 5 1/2 x 4 1/4, & 4 1/4 & 2 1/4 (scored at 4" for flap); Sparkle Designer Series paper 2 5/8 x 3 1/2 and Pop of Pink Designer Series Paper 2 x 3 3/4, Whisper White 2 3/8 x 3 1/4 (front) & 2 1/4 x 3 1/8 (inside)
Accessories:  Gold Star Sequins, Star Embossing Folder

This is a pretty easy fold, the Melon base is only 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 and has the Black layer taped to it, taking the other Melon piece, glue the scored flap behind the main Melon base.  It will have the Happy Birthday sentiment taped to only half of it so that when you raise this piece you will see the inside sentiment.  We glued star sequins to add just the right amount of bling to our black embossed layer.

There you have it!  Another technique in the books, I hope that you like it and will want to try it at home on your own.  Join me next month for the September Technique class, our technique will be Faux Illusion.  Just in time for fall, won't this be fun!!  Can't wait to show you how it is done!

As always, thanks for stopping in!
Cindy
