May Technique Class - Working With Vellum Cardstock

Our May Technique was Working with Vellum, Technique and Tips!

Vellum is a great accent that can be added to cards, it just makes them that much more special!  We learnt that Vellum may seem hard to work with, but with a few tips, it can be easier than you think.  Vellum is a cardstock that you can see through, it isn't transparent like clear sheets but you can see your adhesive through the vellum.  Here are some of the tips that we covered.

  • Hide your adhesive!!  Behind a flower, use vellum under a piece of cardstock that will hide the edge of your card, or by placing an embellishment on top of the vellum as an accessory.
  • You can emboss Vellum, but be careful, it can scorch if you hold your heat gun too close to the vellum.  You want to keep your heat gun about 6 inches away from the Vellum and use a circular motion to melt your embossing powder.
  • Use dimensions to highlight Vellum accent pieces
  •  Using markers to color embossed Vellum pieces will create a stained glass effect.
  • You can use your punches on Vellum.

As you can see, Vellum is easy to work with and with just alittle bit of care, you can create some fabulous results!!  Let's look at the cards that we made at class!
