Embossed Embossing Technique

 

Create a beautiful background using Heat Embossing and

 

Embossing Folders

 

-Emboss cardstock with your favorite embossing folder. Gently rub your embossing buddy over the piece. The step makes a significant difference in the finished product.

-Ink up brayer with Versamark, use a “gentle” pressure carefully roll the ink onto the raised surfaces of the cardstock. Your goal is to apply ink only to these raised areas.

-Sprinkle embossing powder onto the entire inked surface, tap off excess. Apply heat.

-Trim or die cut the embossed piece to the size needed for you creation.

-Using Tom Bow Glue to glue your embossed piece to your base seems to work better than tape.

 

Card 1 – Big News Birthday

Stamp Sets:  Big News, Geometrical

Ink:  Basic Grey, Lost Lagoon, Versamark

Paper:  White 1 ½ x 5 ¼, Hello Honey 5 ½ x 8 ½ & 2 x 2 ½, Lost Lagoon 2 x 4 ¾ & 2 x 2 ½, Moonlight DS Paper 4 ½ x 2 ¼, Basic Grey 5 x 4

Accessories:  White Embossing Powder, 3 Dimensions—cut in half, white/silver twine, Tiny Triangles Embossing Folder

-For the raised triangles, use the halved dimensions to wind the twine around each triangle using a up down pattern.

 

Card 2 – Thinking of You

Stamp Sets:  Gifts of Kindness

Ink:  Strawberry Slush Marker, Pistachio Pudding Marker; Early Espresso

Paper:  Whisper White 3 ¼ x 3 ¼, Pistachio Pudding 5 ½ x 8 ½, Strawberry Slush 2 ¾ x 5 ¼, All Abloom DS Paper, Daffodil Delight 2 ¾ x 5 ¼

Accessories: White Tea Lace Doilies, Clear Embossing Powder, Iridescent Ice, Beautifully Baroque Embossing Folder, Edgits Adorning Accents, Small Circle punch, Itty Bitty Accent, Pearl Jewels

-Overlap each of your embossed pieces only just slightly.

 

 

 

 

Fancy Fold – Lattice Chevron Punch Card

Stamp Sets: Age Awareness-Photo Polymer (use piercing pad to get even ink coverage by putting pad on your table then the card stock to be stamped.), Petite Petals

Ink:  Blackberry Bliss, Smokey Slate

Paper:  Very Vanilla Tag 2 ¼ x 3 ¾, Blackberry Bliss 1 ¼ x 5 ¼ (2 each), Smokey Slate 5 ¼ x 4 ¼  Blackberry Bliss Tag 2 ½ x 4 ½, Olive Green 1 ¼ x 5 ¼  

Accessories: Large Polka Dot Embossing Folder, In Color Sequins, Dimensions 4 and also 4 halves for the Blackberry Bliss Tag

 

·        For the Lattice, start at the end of the strip of cardstock and punch both pieces all the way across.

·        Put the 2 pieces on top of each other.

·        Push the points on top of each other, they will be entwined at this point.

·        Push each point up and down.

·        Hold both ends, and pull and push to make different looks.  If you extend the piece as far as it goes will the achieve the look I came up with for today’s card.

·        Move the bottom then to the top to move the two pieces.

·        I used Tom Bow glue, putting drops here and there, you could use tape but I didn’t want it to move once I put it on top of the Olive Green Strip.

June 2014 - Ombre Technique

Ombre Technique 

 

 Ombre is a hot trend right now.  Ombre by definition is having colors or tones that shade into each other, used especially in fabric in which color is graduated from light to dark.  The Ombre on the 1^st card starts with sponging light color in the lower right corner and working towards the darkest color in upper left corner.

 

Card #1 - Ombre Sampler

 

 

Stamp Sets: Perfect Pennants, Six Sided Sampler

Ink:  Pool Party, Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay (Sponge Daubers using a Light Touch)

Paper:  Bermuda Bay Base 5 ½ x 8 ½,

Whisper White 4 ¼ x 5 (Cut down to 4 x 4 ¾ after Shading) 2 Whisper White 2 ¼ x 3 ½, Bermuda Bay & Coastal Cabana Scraps

Accessories:  Hexigon Hive, Banner Framelits, Metal Buttons, Six Sided Punch & Dimensions

 

Card #2 - More Chevrom

Ink:  Mossy Meadow, Pink Pirouette, Blackberry Bliss, Perfect Plum, Wisteria Wonder (Stamp Off – Really Fresh Ink)

Paper:  Sahara Sand Base 5 ½ x 8 ½ & 2 x 3 ½, Black Berry Bliss 5 ¼ x 4, Very Vanilla 2 x 2 ½, 2x3 7 3 ¼ x 4 ¾

Accessories: Chevron Punch, Tag Punch, Gold Thread Twine – Fold in half & Knot, Candy Dot, Sponge Daubers, 5 Dimensions

May 2014 - Faux Silk Technique

 

Stamp on tissue, crinkle it up and adhere it to cardstock for a soft silky look.

Faux Silk Technique

·        Stamp on Tissue (Ink will bleed through the tissue, color carefully)

·        Let it dry

·        Crinkle it up

·        Smooth it out CAREFULLY

·        Adhere it to cardstock for a soft silk look. We are using Stampin’ Up! Glue sticks, first time I have ever used these and I think that they are just great for a project like this!

 

 

We will create two great technique cards and our Fancy Fold card for the month turned out so pretty.  Let's begin!

Card #1 - Beautiful Flower Shop Birthday Card

Stamp Sets:  Flower Shop, Summer Silhouettes, Creative Elements

Ink:  Gumball Green, Primrose Petals, Raspberry Ripple

Paper: Primrose Petals 5 ¼ x 4 ¼, Whisper White 2 x 5 ½ & 2 ½ x 5 ¼, So Saffron 5 ¼ x 8 ½, Gumball Green 2 ½ x 5 ¼, Tissue 2 ½ x 5 1/4

Super Simple and Super Pretty!! 

Cardstock base is just half of a regular card, 4 ¼ x 5 ½

Cut 2 banners, one for the front of the card and the other for the inside.

Using a brad on the front, adds alittle weight to our card and will help it stay closed.

April 2014 Stamping Technique - Quilted Background

 

 

A GREAT way to use your scraps! 

 

Using a square punch, punch out squares to assemble on your card.  Lay the squares out first before assembling your card.

 

So lets get started making this great technique that you are sure to

 

LOVE!!

 

 

Card 1 – Whoo Hoo! Quilt Card

Stamp Sets:  Just Saying’, Mosaic Madness

Ink:  Baked Brown Sugar, Pool Party

Paper:  Coastal Cabana 5 ½ x 8 ½, Sweet Sorbet DS Paper 4 x 5 ¼ & Quilt Squares

Accessories:  Natural Chevron Ribbon, Wood Bubbles Framelits (Occasions Catalog), Banners Framelits, Top Note Sizix Die, Mosaic Embossing Folder, 1 ¾” Square Punch

 

Card 2 – Cheer Up Quit Card

Stamp Sets:  Geometrical

Ink:  Basic Gray, Maurina Mist

Paper:  Maurina Mist 4 ¼ x 5 ½, Watercolor Wonder DS Paper Squares using Postage stamp punch

**4 Squares Cut in Half

Accessories: Bright Candy Dots

The Fancy Fold Card for the Month was CASED from Creatin' with Kirsteen.  When I seen this card, I just fell in love with it!!  It is so much prettier in person and really not that hard to make.

 

 

Circle Frame Card Directions

 

·        Put your card base onto the score board and make a small score line – about ¼” size at the base size – so for this card at 3 ¾”. Flip over and repeat, now you have two small guide scores at the half way point on your cardstock.

·        Taking your largest Framelits Circle and mark it at the half way point on both sides.

·        Put the card onto the magnetic platform (with cutting plate underneath)

·        Line up the marks on the Framelit with the score lines you made.

·        Place the top plate on top of the card/Framelit with the EDGE OF THE PLATE LEVEL WITH THE CENTER MARKS ON THE FRAMELIT AND SCORE LINES ON THE CARD.

·        Run through the Big Shot, you should end up with a card base that has a half circle cut in the top half.

·        Now line your embossing folder with the bottom of the cut/the half way score lines, and run through the Big Shot.  You will end up with a card base that has embossing half of the card.

·        Emboss Greeting with White Embossing Powder.

·        Put the stamped image onto the Magnetic Platform (with plate underneath) and position the Framelit you measured centered on top of it. Then position the next size down inside hat with an even gap all the way around.

·        Run through Big Shot and you should get a circle with the stamped image and also a circular “frame”.

·        Add dimensions to the back of the frame – you will need to cut them in half to fit.

·        Adhere frame to card.

·        Put glue over the inside of that circle and adhere the circle with the stamped image.

·        Stamp several flowers and punch out with punch.

·        Adhere a dimension to the back of each flower or not, I did not use dimensions.

·        Punch leaves using the Bird Builder, snip the long stems off.

·        Adhere leaves to the frame.

·        Add flowers as desired.

March 2014 Stamping Technique - Foil Vellum Resist

By the time that you read this, I will be in sunny Florida visiting my mom and dad who had the good sense to get out of this cold weather!

Another fun technique, Foil Vellum Resist is easy and fun!  Brayer Craft Ink onto Foil Vellum.  The foil design will resist the ink.  Wipe off ink with a tissue.

Here is our first card, it would make a lovely Wedding Card I think:

 

Card 1 – Love this Card!

Stamp Sets:  Language of Love (Occasions Mini Catalog)

Ink:  Basic Grey, Primrose Petals

Paper:  Primrose Petals 5 ½ x 8 ½ (base), Whisper White 2 cx 2 ¼ & 2 ¼ x 2 ¾, Pink Pirqouette 4 x 5 ¼, Foil Vellum 3 ¾ x 5, Silver 2 ¼ x 2 3/4

Accessories:  Rhinestone Jewel, 1/8” Silver ribbon

Our Second card just says Spring!!

Card 2 – Happy Hello Card

Stamp Sets:  Petite petals, Perfect Pennants, Happy Hello

Ink:  Calypso Corral, Crisp Cantaloupe, Soft Suede

Paper:  Soft Suede 5 ½ 8 ½ (base), Watercolor Wash DS Paper 4 x 5 ¼, Whisper White 3 ¼ x 3 ¼ (inside), Calypso Coral 3 x 3 ½ (inside), Foil Velum 4x4

Accessories:   Framelits labels (Inside), Framelits Border Die, Subtle Dots, Petite petals Punch, Silver Washi Tape, Glue Dots & Dimensions

 

And last our Fancy Fold Card, it is called a Double Fold Card, I just fell in love with the card and the colors.  The card fashioned after a card I seen from my upline, Kelly Acheson, I just changed it and used the tag punch.  The first part of the card, you open by the ribbon and then you open it again.  The colors are so pretty in person!

And there you have it, do you notice how nice the cards look now?  I found instructions on line on how to make a light box, talked my wonderful husband into making one for me and Ta-Dah!  I can take way better pictures of my cards then I use to.
