September Technique - Faux Illusion Cards

We had a great time last week with the September Technique of the Month, Faux Illusion.  The whole idea is to create an illusion of images "peeking" out from behind the embossing folder images. The best part about this technique is that this is another easy technique that you can easily do yourself!  All you need is an embossing folder, ink, stamps and your Big Shot!  Give it a shot!

Card #1 - Think of You

In this card, you can see the fall leaves of the forest behind the birch trees on our card.  Take your embossing folder and stamp leaves on the smooth side.  Place your cardstock down on top of your stamping and run through your Big Shot.  We highlighted the trees a little by adding some ink to the tree trunks.

Card 1 – Thinking of You

Stamp Sets:   Sheltering Tree

Ink:  Crumb Cake, Delightful Dijon, Pumpkin Pie, Soft Suede

Paper:   Cajun Craze Base, Delightful Dijon Layer, Whisper White 3 ¾ x 5

Accessories:  Twine, Dimensions, Sponging, Woodland Embossing Folder

Card 2 – Get Well Soon

Stamp Sets: In the Meadow

Ink:  Always Artichoke, Dapper Denim, Early Espresso

Paper:  Always Artichoke Base, Whisper White Layer

Accessories: Sparkles Embossing Folder, Burlap Ribbon, Classic Label Punch, Candy Dot

And last of all, our Fancy Fold Card for September.  It is called a Double Z Fold and let me tell you, it may look complicated but is not!!

Fancy Project – Double Z Fold

Stamp Sets: Cookie Cutter Halloween, Ghoulish Grunge, Sunburst Sayings

Ink:  Chocolate Chip, Tangerine Tango, Sahara Sand, Crushed Curry, Assorted Markers

Paper:  Pumpkin Pie Base, Chocolate Chip Z Fold Layers 5 ¼ x 4, 2 ½ x 4 (2), Whisper White 2 ¼ x 3 ¾ (2), Halloween Night DSP 5 x 3 ¾ and scraps

Accessories:  Dimensions, Cookie Cutter Punch

Cut Card base 11 x 4 ¼, score at 2 ¾ & 5 ½. Z Fold Strip is 11 x 1 ½, scored at 2 ¾ & 5 ½. 

The cards were great and I am already starting to think about the next month technique, Direct to Acrylic.  This will be another fun class and you won't want to miss it!  The class is available as a card kit, contact me for additional details and cost.
