August Technique Class - Masking with Paper Towels

We have probably all heard of the Masking Technique, but have you ever done the Masking with Paper Towels Technique?  This was a lot of fun at our Technique Class held last week.  The stamping ladies quickly found out that using the paper towels in our Masking Technique added some great texture to our cards.  Plus the cards were cute and fun to make!

If you are familiar with Masking then Masking with Paper Towels will be a snap!  Using a piece of  heavy cardstock or cardboard, punch a shape with a punch. Take a piece of paper towel and tear a piece, you want the jagged edge to use when you ink your punched image. Place the torn edge of the paper towel under the punched image, sponge ink through the opening of the image and move your paper towel a little at a time until you have the entire image inked.

Card #1 - Take Life by the Reins
Punch a 2" circle out of cardboard (I used the heavy paper that is found in the Designer Paper), you will only be using the "negative" to sponge ink through the hole to make the sun.

Stamp Sets:  Barn Door, Rustic Retreat (inside sentiment), Let it Ride
Ink:  Early Espresso, Shaded Spruce, Gray Granite, Balmy Blue, Mango Melody
Paper:  Merry Merlot Base, Whisper White Layer, Gray Granite (Barn Door), Black Scrap
Accessories:  Sliding Door Framelits, Dimensions, Pinewood Planks Embossing Folder, Rhinestones, Sponges

Card #2 - Party with the Cows!
For this card, I punched the Pretty Label Punch to make the clouds on this card, I also punched the Starburst punch to make the mask for the "rolling" hills.
