| Wow Tip: My, Oh My! Dip Dye! |
| Searching for a quick watercolor look to share with customers? Dip-dying is one of those bingeworthy techniques with broad appeal and many uses—from vintage grunge to chic minimalist. To create layers, simply immerse your paper in inky water, let it dry, and repeat. Instant ombre! Dip tip: dip-dyed paper is pretty paired with metallics and Designer Series Paper (as our finished sample demonstrates)! Step 1 Add 30–40 drops of ink to approximately 32 ounces of water and stir. Tear a piece of watercolor paper along the bottom, dip it in color, and then hold it in place for 30–60 seconds. Let the paper air dry (or dry on a low setting using the Heat Tool). Step 2 Add 10–15 more drops of ink and stir. Dip the paper again, but not quite as far as the first time. Allow it to dry. Dip tip: tilt your paper to one side when dipping for added interest. Step 3 Third time’s a charm! Add another 10–15 drops of ink to your water and stir. Dip the final section—but this time, only submerge it a little. Dip tip: tilt your paper in the opposite direction for interest.
